SACRED HEART PROVINCE KOCHI

The Province of Sacred Heart of Jesus was born in 1953 along with the Devamatha Province in the north and St. Joseph’s Province in the south.

With its headquarters at first at Aluva and from 1959 at Kalamassery, the Sacred Heart Province consisted of the territories under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam and the Diocese of Kothamangalam.

FOUNDER BL. KURIAKOSE ELIAS CHAVARA

Kuriakose (Cyriac) Chavara was born in 1805, of pious and devout parents of Syro-Malabar Church, in Kainakary, Kerala, India. In baptism he was given the name Kuriakose (Cyriac). After his early schooling in the native village and priestly Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara

Fr. Jose Alex CMI, the Provincial and Manager of the college is a Post Graduate in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. Fr. Jose Alex was the Principal of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences for 13 years
